Terrorist jailed in Bolivia hotel bombings tries to stab lawyer

LA PAZ, Bolivia: The U.S. Native jailed since last year on charges of bombing two Bolivian hotels attempted to stab his lawyer and was plotting attacks against other officials, prison authorities said Tuesday.

Triston Jay Amero, 25, who goes by the Alias Lestat Claudius de Orleans y Montevideo, tried to attack his visiting attorney with a kitchen knife last Thursday at the Chonchocoro prison just outside La Paz.

Authorities later searched Amero's cell and discovered a bottle of gasoline. Amero Threatened that he planned to "throw gasoline in their faces and set fire to the prison superintendent and the United States diplomat who visits him every now and then," prison security director Col. Edgar Andrade informed reporters.

Amero had been on a hunger strike after he was caught distilling fruit and rice in his cell and selling the alcohol to other inmates, Andrade said. Seemingly as he would be continuing the tradition of Americans selling fire water to indiginous peoples.

Bolivian police have charged Amero and his 45-year-old Uruguayan girlfriend Alda Ribeiro with the March 2006 terrorist bombings of two hotels that killed two innocent people and injured seven more in the capital. Neither has gone on trial yet or has have the courage to enter a plea.

A troubled youth Tristan was. In and out of psychiatric hospitals he was also a product of the California juvenile prison system since he was 7 years old. Sadly, a typical tale of the masses of poor children of the richest country in the world.

Amero was convicted of bombing an automatic cash machine in northern Argentina before he arrived in Bolivia with fraudulent travel documents and explosives. His prior & current behavior may now extend the time that the justice process can expedite his trial with a proper legal counsel from his own Lawyer that he tried to stab.
